Confined Space Awareness

Course Description

The Confined Space Awareness course is designed for persons who supervise, design or work with confined spaces. This course does not provide the skills or qualification to enter or work within a confined space.


Course Content

Each course is tailored to the industry and if required, orientated to the specific job requirements of the participants. Constructed based on the requirements of the Regulations, Codes of Practice and
National Standards applicable, the Confined Space Awareness course provides an overview of the requirements for all persons working in, around or on Confined Spaces. This course does not provide any Entry, Breathing Apparatus or Rescue qualifications.

Topics include an overview of:

  • The definition of a Confined Space
  • Standards, Codes of Practice, Acts and Regulations
  • Confined Space Hazards and Risk Assessments
  • Risk Control Measures and Work Permits
  • Procedures working around Confined Spaces

Course Duration

The course is delivered over a 4 hour period, as one half day.


Delivery Mode

Training is delivered face to face including both theory and practical components with a strong emphasis on the practical application of skills.


Award and Recognition

Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion in Confined Space Awareness


Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.


Fitness Requirements

There are no fitness requirements for this course. 


Literacy, Language and Numeracy Requirements

The course is conducted in English. Participants are expected to be able to read and write to a level which will allow them to complete workplace forms and interpret these forms. Numeracy is required to a level where the participant can interpret results on a gas detector and calculate the difference between results.


Clothing and Equipment

Participants are to wear long sleved shirts, long pants with covered in shoes, preferably work boots.Sandals and thongs are not allowed under any circumstances and will result in the participant being unable to complete the training.
